Asbestos (Transite) Siding Removal in Columbia, SC

Asbestos removal in Columbia, SC - two-man crew working inside poly containment

Transite is cement-asbestos shingle, and it is on a lot of Midlands stock from the 1950s and 60s — Forest Acres ranches along Trenholm, Rosewood infill, and the post-war build west of the Congaree. Intact it is non-friable and not an emergency. The fibre release happens when somebody snaps it, sands it or power-washes it. We strip it whole and wet and quote the replacement cladding in the same number. Call (803) 859-4938.

What we do

The first job is confirming what the cladding actually is, because cement-asbestos looks like two or three things that are not asbestos. A bulk sample settles it in a couple of days, and if it comes back negative the job is ordinary siding work and we say so.

If it is positive, the elevation being stripped gets poly on the ground beneath it, the shingles are wetted, and each is scored and lifted off the nails intact wherever the fixing allows. Nothing is snapped, nothing is dropped into a skip, nothing is staged loose on the drive. Waste is double-bagged in 6-mil, labelled, and hauled on the manifest to a permitted facility, with the signed copy back to you.

Why Columbia Asbestos Removal

  • It comes off whole, not broken. Shingles are scored and lifted intact; snapping them is what turns a non-friable job into a fibre release.
  • Wet methods and ground sheeting throughout. Amended water on the wall, poly under the elevation, no loose material on the drive at any point.
  • The re-side is quoted at the same time. One number for strip, disposal and new cladding, so you are not left with a wrapped house and a second contractor to find.
  • Disposal on a manifest. Double-bagged, labelled, hauled to a permitted facility, signed copy returned.
  • The paperwork comes before the visit. Accreditation and insurance documents sent on request when you call, not produced on the doorstep.

How much does it cost to remove asbestos siding in Columbia?

Priced per square foot of cladding, so house size drives it more than anything else. The band is on the cost page. Replacement cladding is a separate line and quoted at the same time.

How long is the house open for?

A single-storey strip and re-side runs a few days per elevation depending on weather, and the house is never left open overnight — the wrap goes on as the shingles come off.

Can I just side over the top of it?

Sometimes, and it is legitimate where the shingle is sound: no disturbance means no release, and it is much cheaper. The catch is the material stays on the house, it gets declared at sale, and every future fixing through it is a disturbance. We will tell you which one your wall suits.

Can I see the crew’s accreditation before you start?

Yes. Ask when you call and the SCDES accreditation card and the insurance documents are sent through before anyone is on site, rather than produced at the door.

A contractor already broke some of it. What now?

Stop the work, keep people and pets off that side of the house, leave the debris where it is and do not sweep or hose it. Call and we will scope the cleanup as its own line — wet collection into sealed bags rather than a broom.

How do I get rid of asbestos siding on a Columbia house?

Not with a pressure washer, a sander or a demolition bar — all three turn a stable material into an airborne one. Shingles are scored and lifted whole, bagged and manifested. Siding over the top is sometimes legitimate and we will tell you when it is. How the removal runs.

What does it cost to remove asbestos siding here?

Priced per square foot of elevation, with the re-side quoted separately so you can see the two numbers apart. See the cost page.
